Amazing Onset Bay

Nestled at the beginning of Buzzards Bay, Onset is a seaside village that in many ways feels like a more inclusive version of Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard. Endless summer activities and fun. Shell Point is an expansive white sandy beach on the warm water of Onset Harbor with no big waves. One can easily enjoy Marc Anthony’s famous pizza, or have an ice cream next to the town pier. Overlooking the harbor is the Quahog Republic. A great place for lunch or dinner, and an adult beverage too.

In the late 19th century and early 20th century Onset was a destination for cruise ships from New York City. It was a hub for jazz music, and many wealthy families chose to summer there. This legacy today can be felt in the Victorian style houses of Shell Point, or at the stunningly restored Glen Cove Hotel which has two restaurants, The Bay Room overlooking Onset Harbor is a great family friendly restaurant, and the 1883 Lounge makes you feel like you’ve stepped back to a different era. Take a peek at the web cam they set up.

The music tradition in Onset is still around at the bandshell with free outdoor concerts during the summer. Just bring your own chair and enjoy the cool summer air at night while looking out over the water.

With its natural protected harbor, and easy access to both the Cape Cod Canal and all of Buzzards Bay, Onset is a natural destination for boating. In Onset you can embark on a Canal cruise aboard the Viking. Great for afternoons and sunsets with music and fun. If fishing is more your style there are several fishing charters from the Onset Pier. The Point Independence Yacht Club has been around since 1908. It is a local landmark with a dedicated community, active club house, and large sandy beach.

For real estate I find Onset exciting because it offers a great combination of relatively affordable housing, whilst high end luxury is just a stone's throw away. With our main office right by the Jefferson Shores Onset lights I’m grateful to be able to spend so much time in this beautiful and unique village.
